Social and collaborative assignments and activities in your courses
Challenge
Implement a secure, integrated social media solution, including wikis, blogs, journals, podcasts, and templates which allow instructors and students to deploy social media/Web 2.0 assignments and activities within courses.
Solution
The Learning Objects Social Assignments will empower instructors, academic technologists, and instructional designers to easily build and implement social media assignments and activities from a library of re-usable tools including wikis, blogs, journals, podcasts, and templates.
In an Astronomy Class, a wiki is used for group projects, allowing students to embed links, images, and videos from online sources, such as Youtube, to further illustrate their research on Mars.
Classmates and the professor are able to provide peer review and feedback through threaded commenting.
Professor Oscar Johnson is able to review and evaluate each students' contribution to the wiki through the assessment tool.
In Professor Oscar Johnson's Mass Communication class, he records his lectures for students to listen to on-the-go with the Campus Pack inline podcast recorder. He can also upload supplemental information and a transcript of the recording.
Create and access social media templates in an online respository.
Side-by-side comparision allows an instructor to view the collaborative process during the assignment.
